Colby's Baby Shower

We had a great time last weekend at a family baby shower for Colby. Thanks Angie for organizing this!! We went to Mimi's cafe in West Des Moines for lunch, cupcakes and presents. It was a great time! It was so fun with all the girls (big and little) being there! Thanks everyone for coming and for the great gifts!!

Happy 2 Month Old Birthday Colby!!!

Colby turned 2 months old today! Where has the time gone??? He is getting more and more alert each day and loves to look around at everything. We take him in on Monday for his 2 month check-up, so I'll update you on his stats at that time. He also has to get several shots Monday, so I'm not looking forward to that :-( He is doing good at night and only gets up one time in the middle of the night and then goes right back to sleep after he eats. He will get up between 6:00 and 7:00 in the morning. I'm anxious to see how much he weighs on Monday as he is getting so much bigger.

Colby has been a little more alert recently, so we decided to get out Maddy's old play mat and see if he liked it. He absolutley loves laying on it and looking around! He will lay there for a good 20 minutes just looking at everything! He is starting to do some half smiles, but we are still waiting for the real thing. Maddy loves the fact that Colby can "play" now; it should only get better from here!!

Mom -- I Need Crunches......

Maddy had her 4 year check-up at the doctor yesterday and had to get 2 shots. She did so great and didn't even cry until the nurse left the room. She then cried for couple minutes and then was fine. The shots both went in her leg at the same spot, so her leg was pretty sore yesterday. She was limping around all afternoon/night. When it came time for bed, we were walking up the stairs and Maddy says to me -- "Mom, I need crunches (aka: crutches ;-)); my leg really hurts!" After I told her she did not need "crutches" and that she would be fine in the morning, she said, "well, can I have a wheelchair then, my leg hurts and I can't walk!"

Her check-up went great and she is in the 40th percentile for both height and weight!!

Fun with Aunt Tami!!!

Jeremy's sister Tami came out to visit us from VA last Friday and stayed until yesterday. We had a great time and Colby got to meet his aunt for the first time! Maddy had a lot of fun spending time with her aunt as well. Tami also successfully fed Colby his first bottle! Yeah! We weren't sure if he would take a bottle or not, as we hadn't tried it yet. Nice work Tami!! One more hurdle tackled!! Colby is missing his cuddling time with his aunt and Maddy is missing story time with Tami :-( We will have to plan a trip out to VA soon!!

Birthday Time!!!

Happy 4th B-day Maddy and Happy 1 month b-day Colby!!!!!! We had a big weekend at our house this past weekend with Maddy's 4th b-day party at Chow's gymnastics. She had a great time!! Today is Maddy's actual birthday, so Jeremy took the afternoon off of work and we celebrated by going swimming at the Y and going out for ice cream at Dairy Queen (thanks John and Jolyn for the gift card ;-)) Colby also turned 1 month old today! This past month has flown by!! I don't even know where the time has gone; it seems like just yesterday he was born!

Thank You Grandma Kennedy and Grandma Barb!!!

Well, the time has come for us to be on our own....Grandma Kennedy and Grandma Barb both came out for a week at a time to help us with Colby and Maddy. This is our first week on our own, as Grandma Barb left last Thursday night to go back to North Carolina. We want to thank both Grandmas for everything they did to help us!! It was so great having some extra help to get us through those first tough weeks!! Maddy and Colby can't wait to see both Grandmas again and Colby hopes to meet his Grandpas soon!
