Colby Michael Baumann is here!!

We are excited to announce that Colby is finally here!! Born on Monday, February 16th at 5:22 pm. He weighed in at 8 lbs., 9 oz. and was 19 1/2 inches long.

Things have been going well and Colby has been a pretty laid back baby so far. He is sleeping well at night and does well during the day also. I am feeling much better this week as well.
Grandma Kennedy was here for our first week home to help out and was a tremendous help! We can't thank her enough for everything she did from cleaning, helping with Colby and Maddy and running errands. Thanks Grandma!! We were sad to see her leave today. We already miss her!!

Grandma Barb will be coming tomorrow for a week as well, so we are eagerly anticipating her arrival! We feel very lucky to have such great support from friends and family as we make this transition in our lives.

Maddy has been doing as well as expected with the new baby. She is very helpful and interested when we change his diaper or clothes. Her job has been to pick out his outfit for the day and she seems to enjoy doing that. She does have some adjusting to do with not being the only child anymore, but she loves her little brother so much and just needs to adjust to mom and dad having to split their time up a little more.

I will keep you posted in the days ahead with updates on the fam and new pictures.....now I need to go take a nap! :-)

Daddy/Daughter Dance

Jeremy and Maddy went to a daddy/daughter dance at our church on Friday night and had a great time. Maddy has been talking about this dance for the longest time and could not wait to go. She was sick on Thursday and Friday, but was feeling good enough Friday night to go for about an hour. She was pretty wiped out when they got home, but had a lot of fun. They got their picture taken, had some desserts and danced. A great Friday night for them both!!

Sick Day....

Poor Maddy has been sick with a cold and fever the past 2 days and is pretty wiped out. We have not left the house, except to go to the doctor, since Wednesday! I'm hoping after staying home all day today she will be feeling better by tonight as her and Jeremy are supposed to go to a daddy/daughter dance at our church tonight. She has been talking about this dance for the longest time and even got a new dress for it, so hopefully she'll be able to go for at least a little while.
My day has pretty much consisted of giving Maddy medicine, helping her blow her nose (constantly), making sure the kleenex box is following her around the house (since her blue shirt sleeve is now white) and washing my hands about a hundred times.....I might try to take her outside for a little bit later on as it's almost 50 degrees today and it will be nice to get some fresh air!!

Baby Update!

So, I went to my 38 week appt. today and found that I'm now 2 cm dialated and 40% effaced, so we're making some progress :-) We do have an induction date scheduled for Feb. 16th as well if we don't have the baby before that.

So, less than 2 weeks and counting!! My due date is Feb. 20th, but the doctor is okay with inducing early due to this being my 2nd pregnancy and already being dialated some. I am somewhat nervous about setting a date as it is making it a little too real, but it is nice to see the light at the end of tunnel as well :-) Whoever called Braxton Hicks contractions, false contractions, must have never experienced them! :-)

Hopefully we'll have some good news to share very soon!!

We are Officially Ready!

Very excited to show off her "I'm a big sister
button" after her class.

Practicing holding one of the pretend babies

We took Maddy to a sibling class at the hospital on Saturday, where they teach you what to expect with a new baby and how to help care for them. Well, to say the least, Maddy had a great time and even got to help the teacher hand out the 'I'm a big sister/big brother' buttons to the kids at the end of the class.

They also got to tour the maternity floor of the hospital and see one of the rooms and the baby nursery. One of the nurses held up one of the newborns in the nursery up to the window, so the kids could look at the baby. They were pretty amazed! It was very entertaining to watch. A couple funny comments from the class -- "wow, is that a REAL baby??" and when the class was asked why we wash our hands before holding a baby, the answer was "because babies are dirty". Pretty comical hearing the comments from a group of 3 and 4 yr olds.

So........we can now say that we are all officially ready for our new baby!!

Little Chefs....

Maddy had a couple of her best buddies over to play on Friday, so we decided to make some Valentine's cupcakes. They had a great time helping me pour everything in and mix it up. The best part was eating the cupcakes at the end of course!!

La.bor [ley-ber]

definition of la.bor [ley-ber]:
physical or mental work, esp. of a hard or fatiguing kind; toil.

Now, one would think, who would ever wish this on themselves or greatly anticipate this happening.....But, I can tell you that it is all I'm thinking about now and I'm hoping it will happen very soon!!!! I go in tomorrow for my 37 week appt. and hoping that we will hear some good news :-) It may be a long 3 weeks at our house!!

With all of the symptoms I've been having lately, I feel like either the baby is ready to come out and my body is not letting him OR my body is ready for the baby to come out and he is not ready!! I'm hoping they will get on the same track here soon! I am so at a loss as to when this might actually happen!!!
